Help Yoce start a new life

Hello friends, family, and followers of Sancocho (fka Delicias Colombianas)

My name is Yoselin. Some of you know me from school, some from my organizing and community work, others in my personal life.

For those who don’t know me, I am a disabled afro-latina mother and grad student at UCR.

I was born in LA but grew up in the Inland Empire.

I started Sancocho (fka Delicias Colombianas) on a whim. My family was deeply affected by COVID-19 and my partner and I lost our jobs. As I scrambled to find a way to make ends meet, I was inspired on Instagram to sell food from home, and what better food than Colombian food, the food of my mother’s land.

When I was younger, I dreamt of becoming a chef. I even looked into Le Cordon Bleu in high school. But as my parents struggled with their own issues as immigrants, those dreams were set aside as I found ways to educate myself and grow in academia.

Now to the present; as most of you know, I have been selling food from home since November 2020. It has been going great! But as all great things grow, our environment must grow with it.

Earlier this year, I teamed up with my cousin to make our dreams come true. And it’s official.
WE’RE GETTING A FOOD TRAILER!

Amazing, we know! But the hill has only been climbed half the way and we need your help to get to the top!
We are buying a food trailer but we still need a truck to pull it and other start-up costs. The money raised from this crowdfund would all go to getting a truck and helping us with start-up cost for our new trailer. In addition to using this truck to pull our food trailer, I will also be using it for my day-to-day life since the car we have now has reached its last legs.  That includes taking my son to speech therapy, going to my physical therapy and infusions, etc.

I decided to create this gofundme because the community has been there for me over the years the way I have been there for it. Y’all have been the best cheerleaders and the safe space I have needed to grow and thrive and I couldn’t be happier to share this experience with you all. So please, donate, share, support my weekly pop-ups, anything to help us get to the top of that hill.

Oh, and one more thing, all donors will not be forgotten. Your generosity will be rewarded in better days with amazing Colombian food and Cartagena hospitality!
