Help Yesmeen with surgery expenses

Friends, we need your help! Early June, Yesmeen’s L5/S1 disc ruptured out of the blue putting severe compression on her sciatic nerve. Her excruciating nerve sensation began on the left side all the way to her foot  with sharp shooting pain, tingling, numbess and muscular dystrophy . The slightest movement triggers the nerve pain all down her body.

She has spent thousands out of pocket on a variety of therapies including acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, dry needling, cupping, cryotherapy, leg compression, infrared sauna sessions and therapeutic massage. She was prescribed an oral steroid in June and had a severe allergic reaction to it! Most recently, she drove 6 hours round trip for a second lumbar epidural injection (each $600) and it also didn’t work.  She needs surgery ASAP and it’s going to cost $22,000  plus 4-6 weeks without working, bending, lifting, twisting.

She isn’t even ABLE to purchase health insurance until the open-enrollment period which begins in November and wouldn’t take effect until Jan 2019. Her case is SEVERE and the longer she has to wait the more permanent her nerve damage becomes. Since June, all surgeon consults, MRI’s, X-rays she has paid out of pocket and she is emotionally, mentally, physically and financially crushed.

Yesmeen is one of the strongest women I know and has a hard time asking for help so we have stepped in.  She quit her job in 2014 to follow a call to go volunteer around the world serving on 6 different projects for 6 months by herself!
