<div>I am Yara from Gaza, my brother Faraj, my friends and I have been working since 2021 to rescue stray animals in our city that suffers from harsh humanitarian conditions that have affected both humans and animals. We started our efforts out of compassion and responsibility towards these innocent souls, and we achieved our dream of building a shelter for cats after two years of hard work, as we finished building it one week before October 7, 2023.

<div>But unfortunately, the war hit our area right after that, and our dreams were destroyed. My family and I were forced to flee from northern Gaza to the south, and our lives became full of difficulties and challenges. We lost our home, our shelter and all the rescue boxes that were part of our efforts. Even the cats we cared for were lost amidst this destruction.

<div>Today, after more than a year of displacement and suffering, hope still exists in my heart. I believe that I can return stronger than ever, and rebuild the shelter that was a home and mercy for animals who had nowhere to go.
