Meet Yachai
Greetings!  Dave McCarthy here.  I live in Florida with my wonderful wife, Yachai .  She’s the light of our lives to me and my sons, Mike and Andy.  Her name means "sweetheart" in Thai — a perfect description.  Her love and smile shine on everyone she meets.

The Diagnosis
In late 2017 we learned that Yachai has Stage IV lung cancer that has metastasized — spread beyond her lungs.  We were shocked because she has never smoked. Her type of cancer involves a genetic mutation, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), present in 15% of non-small-cell lung cancers.

Treatment
We’re seeking the best advice we can get from specialists.  They recommend a new type of medicine designed to slow and potentially stop the spread of the cancer by targeting the EGFR genetic mutation.

Costs
We are asking everyone for donations, if you can, to help pay for expenses like the cost of doctor appointments and medicine. I’ve resigned from my part-time job to care for Yachai.  We have a journey ahead.  With God, faith, and loved ones like you, we will face this bravely.

Details & Updates
Yachai started oral EGFR-directed therapy on Jan. 9. We have our first follow up appointment with her Oncologist, Dr. Lipman, on Jan. 24 to assess her progress.  We hope and pray for a good outcome and a return to good health for Yachai.
