Hi, my name is Carmen, and I’m fundraising on behalf of Prof. Xiomara Bueno, a beloved retired teacher and close family friend who urgently needs eye surgery.

Xiomara has been diagnosed with:

• Grade IV cortico-nuclear cataracts in both eyes (more severe in the left)

• Posterior vitreous detachment

• Optic nerve drusen in her left eye

Her vision has severely declined, and she now needs:

• Urgent phacoemulsification surgery with intraocular lens implantation

• A series of pre-operative specialized tests, including ocular ultrasound, OCT, bloodwork, and cardiovascular clearance

This surgery could give Xiomara her sight — and her independence — back.

However, the cost of the surgery and testing is more than what she and her family can afford. That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe: to give Xiomara the chance to see clearly again.
