We are a collective of activists and writers living on the Rio Grande Delta.
Our struggles encompass opposition to militarization of the borderlands, poverty and racism. At the same time, we promote the ecological and cultural beauty that makes up our community, often portrayed as a dangerous, unstable war-zone by those who profiteer from our oppression.
Únete 956's mission is to unite working-class people in our region to a common struggle for social justice by telling the stories of those who live paycheck to paycheck, while paying the costs of border militarization and environmental racism.
These stories and aspects of life in the Rio Grande Valley (Delta) have been ignored for a long time and we plan to change that.
The monies we are requesting, would cover video equipment, website maintenance, and compensation for time given and content produced by volunteers.
