Help with vet bills for Buddy the wonder dog

In January of 2018, I found a nearly starved to death, scared little dog in my apartment’s parking lot. He turned out to be an abandoned senior Shih Tzu, and I fell thoroughly in love with him and spent the next few months working to get him well. While after his initial vet visit the prognosis was not to expect to have much time with him, here we are two years later! 

Buddy has become the love of my life, and has brought a lot of joy into my life and the lives of those he meets. While he has always had health issues, I have managed them with the help ofmy wonderful vet in California and our new vet in Virginia.

This weekend, Buddy suddenly became very illand is currently hospitalized. When I brought him in he was vomiting, having trouble breathing, and couldn’t walk. Today, he is doing a bit better, but is still having difficulty walking. The best case scenario is that he will improve enough to come home while we continue working to figure out what is going on; unfortunately, the current thinking is a mass or underlying nervous system illness is to blame.

Over the years I have been happy to spend as much money as necessary on Buddy’s care; this was tricky as a grad student, but I pulled it off. This current disaster is coming at the worst possible time for me financially and I am humbly asking for any help folks can provide so I can cover his ongoing treatment. He will be in the hospital for at least another night and we are already staring down a nearly $2k bill.

I so appreciate any and all contributions. He is an old dog and my goal is as it has always been:to provide him with love and care that will enable him to finish out his days in warmth and comfort.
