<div>My name is Joe Clarke. My wife, Rosie and I own Forte Jazz Lounge. We opened in August 2019. We have weathered a lot of storms; the stress and challenges that come with starting a new business, COVID closing us down 6 months after opening, reopening to nearly empty houses for several months, literal storms coupled with an old roof that have caused half a dozen leaks creating issues with our patrons' comfort, a riot that resulted in smashed window and invasion into our office. But it hasn't been all bad. We've added dozens of exciting shows, added a kitchen and an impressive menu, hired supportive and energetic staff, hired more A-list musicians and singers to perform, acquired our liquor license and updated furnishings and seating capacity. I am very proud of what Rosie and I and our team have accomplished. We have had thousands of attendees at our shows and have had stellar reviews all along the way.

<div>With all of that success through adversity, we may have met our match. When we opened, our Liquor Liability Insurance was at $6000, the next year, $12,000. Last year it rose to over $32,000. Now all of the quotes we have received have been $42,000+ to nearly $ $70,000. Our insurance has to be renewed by March 3, 2024. This is insurance coverage that is required in South Carolina.

<div>Here we are staring down the barrel of a potentially lethal blow to our business. What can we do? We are trying desperately not to raise prices. We feel like we are at a good price point for most people to enjoy great music. With time running out and few options, I am asking for your help to keep us open and viable.
