Help With Nancy's Lung Cancer
Many of you know Nancy Holmes. Some of you may not. What's important to know is that Nancy is an incredible, hard working, sacrifical woman who has meant so much to so many people. Shes a mother of two, grandmother of one come February, and a surrogate mother to way more than can be listed.
This summer Nancy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic lung cancer. After experiencing progressive difficulty breathing and chest discomfort, she made an appointment with her primary care who ordered a chest x-ray. It was after the chest x-ray and CT, two masses were found (lung and spinal muscels) and this storm of doctors visits and hospital stays began.
Unfortunaltely her cancer is not currative. Her prognosis is guarded in that she may have only months left with us, or she may have many years left to bless us with her whitty humor. With that said, the goal is to shrink the tumor with radation and chemo to better help her breathe and do the things she enjoys the most.
Because of the turbulent timeline we are doing everything we can do be with her here and now, and try to plan for whatever may happen next. Again, the prognosis of months to years is something that doesn't provide much stability in a time like this.
Theres no easy way to ask for financial help, and were not asking for much. But we are asking now. These funds will be used to provide stability to us helping nancy on a sometimes daily basis, commuting to and from Lawrence. They will be used to help with any medical emergencies that may pop up in the process, purchasing supplies that may be expensive but would help her quality of life. Purchasing food while she isn't able to work. It will be used to help care for Owen, Nancy's son. Owen has down's syndrome and there are many expenses in caring for his day to day. It will also help with hospital and housing bills that may be present. Mortgages and energy bills dont stop when people get sick unfortunately. They will also help us with financial burdens that may present themselves when were preparing for the coming months and hopefully years.
This situation were all going through is changing on a daily basis. Any support you may be willing or able to provide will help so much more than you know.
