Help with my cats emergency vet bills
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Stephanie, and my cats name is Vester. Around a month ago, he had vomiting and diarrhea episode all throughout the night. I tried to brush it off as if he may had ate something bad for him. During the next 3 days, he was constipated and couldn't poop. I took him to the vet, and they told me that he was constipated and that an enema would fix the problem, but that if I wanted to make sure that there was no underlying problem, I could run a quick blood test. I decided to do so since that test was $62. When the results came back. They said his calcium levels were extremely high and needed to be lowered immediately, which required fluids and hospitalization. He then stayed in the ICU for 2 nights. His calcium levels started at 1.87 and then decreased to 1.6 at which I took him home after that. They prescribe me steroids to help. The veterinarians told me that it could be idiopathic, meaning it happened spontaneously with an unknown cause, or that it could be lymphoma. I was given the chance to have the malignancy test done, but it was very out of budget and I had already been over budget since he got hospitalized. Vester has had a checkup since the hospitalization, and I was told that his levels are tittering on 1.5, which is still not considered the safest level but will not cause him harm as of for now. We have to go back to get bloodwork done for him around the last week of January or the first week of February. Based on these tests, I would then see if his Hypercalcimia has normalized, or if he might have more going on. I have tried to apply for credit but since I have no credit history and my moms isn't the best, I got denied. I have thankfully been given a free ultrasound for Vester that helped me avoid a lot of additional costs. The amount on this vet bill is $1,458, but any help towards paying my cat's vet bills will be extremely appreciated. <33
