Some of you know others might just now be finding out. Over the past month I started having health issues it started by finding out my cholesterol was high, the doctor wanted to make sure that was all so I was sent for an EKG, while at the hospital getting that done I got really dizzy and lightheaded the nurse preforming the EKG got worried because I got really pale and thought it would be best to get checked out at the ER, while there I got multiple blood test and an X-ray which came back showing I had a soft tissue mass on the right paratracheal they decided a chest CT would be better at seeing what exactly that was and the CT showed I had small bilateral pleural effusions and multiple enlarged supraclavicular, mediastinal, and hilar lymph nodes and my spleen was enlarged he said it was worrisome for a lymphoproliferative disease and that it’d be best to see an oncologist to be on the safe side. I then got referred to the Blood and Cancer center in Troy and had an appointment set up for December 15th. Well November 25th I woke up having a really hard time breathing my heart rate was elevated but my oxygen level was low and I was having really bad chest pains so we made the decision to go to Upper Valley Hospital since my Oncologist is apart of that hospital, while there they did more blood test and a CT scan which showed the pleural effusion was now taking up half of my lungs, they admitted me and started me on medication to get that fluid off I also got to meet with the oncologist and he decided I needed to get a biopsy done, November 27th I got another CT showing the fluid was down enough to the point of being able to start lasix pills to keep it off instead of medication through my IV and the 28th I got my biopsy and was released that afternoon they said the results would come back in 3-5 days. November 29th the oncologist called bumping my appointment up to December 5th (we figured it was bad news if he was doing that) November 30th Mychart posted the Biopsy results saying atypical cells are positive for CD30, CD15 and PAX-5. Today I had my appointment, it’s one thing to read the results saying positive for cancer it’s another thing to hear the Oncologist say your results came back positive for cancer. I have Hodgkin Lymphoma
I’m at least stage 3 but he’s leaning more towards stage 4 due to the pleural effusions on my lungs. The fluid it’s self is getting tested and we will hopefully find out more about the testing on Friday. I just got my excisional biopsy and chemo port placed and looking to start chemo right after Christmas, I’ll be on AAVD A – doxorubicin (Adriamycin) A–Brentuximab vedotin. V – vinblastine. D – dacarbazine. So 4 different types of chemotherapy once every two weeks for 3 months to start off with, that will be followed with another PET scan to see how my body is reacting and if the cells/tumors are getting smaller. As of now that’s all we know so just waiting to actually get the process started so I can start feeling better. Between Doctors appointments in Troy and hospital stays plus starting chemo in Greenville gas has been a big issue and now we will need to be buying medical supplies and safety precautions for me at home. I hate to be asking for help but it’s getting to be too much for my mom to handle completely on her own and I hate putting the stress on her while she’s also trying to be strong for me during this!
A long road ahead, and a huge thank you to everyone that has reached out, prayed, checked in and helped out. Your support means so much to me and I'm extremely grateful. I will be continuing to update my journey throughout the good and the bad!
