K's Cancer Medical Expenses

Nothing could ever get you ready for finding out you have cancer on top of that a rare form that appears out of no where, remission is a word rarely used in my dear friend K’s world as she can be cancer free one day and then the next she’s not. She is a sweet, single mom of a beautiful 8 year old boy, but in 2013 she found a growth on her calf muscle in which the doctors initially thought it was soft tissue sarcoma and after treating it with steroids for 3 years they finally realized it had been misdiagnosed and was a cancer of the fat cells called liposarcoma. I went back and forth on setting up a go fund page because I know she doesn’t like to feel like she needs a hand out, however we have found that through radiation treatments with her current oncologist that local treatments aren’t as effective as they had hoped and the location of one of the masses is making it impoosible to remove. She has a growth close to her heart and surgery right now isn’t’ possible due to her heart and body being weak from the current radiation.  Her oncologist wants her to see a specialist that specilaisized in her form of cancer, however between her job, being a single parent to her 8 year old, she doesn’t have the extra money (what insurance isn’t covering) to make it happen.  It doesn’t help that her son doesn’t know what’s going on... I wanted to set this page up to help her with the costs of the flight to the treatment center and cover the costs of the scans, and medical coverage as her insurance is covering the bare minimum since they said she has doctors closer here to help. Anything will help. Thank you.
