Hello! My name is Camille and this is my rescue baby, Mila. I took her in off the streets as a puppy in 2014 and we have been inseparable ever since. She is my best friend, adventure partner, and emotional support animal. Mila is ten years old now and still has lots of playful energy and enthusiasm for life. Tuesday morning, Sept. 15, she was all of the sudden very lethargic and dizzy/ falling down and refusing to get up. I took her to her usual vet and they couldn’t diagnose her. I then took her to Metairie Small Animal Hospital where they told me she had a torn eardrum causing pain and dizziness. They sent her home but later that night she had a small seizure and was looking swollen and having trouble breathing. She has been back at Metairie Small Animal Hospital since and they are working to diagnose some internal bleeding they found. Likely related to some liver damage. She will most likely need surgery but has already undergone treatment that will cost at least $3,500 (fluids, ultrasound, CT scan, x-rays, boarding, after hours emergency care, etc.) If you are able to spare anything to help with these costs it would mean the world to Mila, me, and all whose lives she brings joy to.
