Help Emily Duval With COVID Tragedies

Hello, my name is Cody Jacobsen and I am an Agriculture Teacher at Golden Valley High School in which one of our most active and loved students, Emily Duval has been dealt the most difficult circumstances that any one can go through.

Emily is a Senior this year and had great aspirations to making her Senior year one the most exciting and memorable ones possible. In mid-July, tragedy struck her entire family. COVID has caused so many heartaches and losses and Emily has been thrown a major curveball by losing 3 family members within 6 days. Her mother, aunt, and grandmother all lost their battles with this horrible virus this past week.

To make matters even more challenging, Emily lost her father in 2018. Fortunately for Emily, she is now living with her other aunt and their family.

Emily and the family have a long road ahead including expenses that no 17 year old should ever have to worry about.

Emily is one of the most positive, happy, and caring students I have been fortunate to teach in my 9 years at Golden Valley. She is a leader in our program, one that will drop whatever she is doing to ensure that tasks are completed in a superior manner. In her spare time, she loves raising pigs for our county fair, as well as participating in any FFA activity possible. She is one that every member of our Agriculture Department can count on to perform any task possible, and she does with a smile 100% of the time.

She has career aspirations of one day becoming an Agriculture Teacher, in which I have no doubt she will accomplish.

Life will not be simple for her like it should be, having to now understand and worry about making monthly payments on things such as the house, cars, and utilities will be eye-opening, yet with everyones support, will hopefully make things easier for her and her family. I appreciate everyone reading this short story and hope that we can not only make Emily's Senior year the best possible, but to set her up for future success as well.
