Help with Carrie's medical, living expenses
Donation protected
Five years ago, my beautiful sister was diagnosed with a terminal disease - Huntington's Chorea. Her diagnosis came at the same time our Father died from this same disease. Huntington's is an incurable, highly aggressive, progressive neurological disease that basically eats holes in your brain, affecting your nervous system, your motor skills and all aspects of cognitive functions. Last year she lost custody of her 10-year-old son as she was no longer able to care for him. At that time, she also lost half of her income, her child support. Her disability income is so low due to her young age and not having worked very long. Every day is a challenge physically, mentally and emotionally. People that see her and her uncontrollable movements assume she is either drunk or a drug addict. She has become very self-conscious of this, so she doesn't venture out much. Medication for Huntington is extremely expensive, and the family has been helping, but funds are running out. We hope to raise enough money to help with medical, living expenses and home care so she can be as independent as possible for as long as possible. The life span for Huntington people is about 10 years from onset. God bless!
