Hi! Calling all animal lovers, friends, & family to read, share & donate if you have the capacity. It is so greatly appreciated, words cannot express!

I am starting this fund up for my sister Kyla & her sweet doggy Winston (Winnie/Meester Weensteen). Winston is a dachshund, and like most dachshunds, he loves barking, chasing anything that moves, and long walks on the beach. Well, more often just on the sidewalk but beach sounds more poetic, doesn't it?

Recently, Winnie started having issues with his back, losing feeling in his back legs and having trouble walking. The first instance of this was back in July and where he was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disk Disease ( IVDD). He was able to recover and was relatively normal since then.

However, last Thursday he suddenly stopped walking on one of his back legs altogether. Kyla took him to the emergency vet - who then referred her to another emergency vet (Blue Pearl) for their Neuro department. They further diagnosed him with IVD herniation / extrusion in the T3-L3 region of his spinal cord. He was given meds / and script bed rest orders.

As of yesterday both of his legs have given out.
We are at a standstill as far as what can be done at this point, Kyla is still working with the vets, both his Primary vet and the Neuro vets at Blue Pearl for his continuation of care. IVDD surgery has been thrown out as an option but one that is upwards of $10k in expenses. Plus recovery costs.

The bills are piling up - currently sitting at around $1000. This is an ongoing situation, at this point we are just looking at trying to alleviate some of the burden & give support to Kyla while she supports Winston through this difficult situation.

Thank you!
