<div><strong>Help Us Return to Piñán, Ecuador: A Remote Indigenous Community in Need of Medical Care and Cultural Preservation</strong>

<div>We’re asking for your support to bring our team back to the small, isolated Kichwa community of Piñán, Ecuador for our third visit. Piñán is home to about 40 families who live in adobe and wood homes with grass roofs, high in the Andes at 3,112 meters (10,209 feet). The village has no medical facility, and the nearest hospital is many hours away over difficult terrain. Most residents make their living raising livestock or working for the large hacienda that owns the surrounding land.

<div>In September 2024 and July 2025, our team provided essential medical and dental care, along with water filters to improve access to clean drinking water. These visits made a meaningful difference—but the needs in Piñán are ongoing, and the community has asked us to return.

<div>During our previous trips, the residents also shared their concerns about the loss of their Kichwa cultural traditions as elders pass away. They specifically asked Wichana to help revive their Inti Raymi celebrations—their ancestral solstice festival that has not been fully practiced in years.

<div>On this upcoming visit, we will be joined by our partners from the Kichwa Cultural Center Muyumi Kanki, who are working with Piñán’s leaders to restore these important rituals and strengthen cultural identity for future generations.

<div>Estamos solicitando tu apoyo para llevar a nuestro equipo de regreso a la pequeña y aislada comunidad Kichwa de Piñán, Ecuador, para nuestra tercera visita. Piñán es hogar de aproximadamente 40 familias que viven en casas de adobe y madera con techos de paja, en lo alto de los Andes a 3,112 metros (10,209 pies).
