Help Weston Beat Lyme

Donation protected
I'm not sure I would do this for myself, but a father would surely do this for his son. My eldest son Weston (32 years old) has fallen on hard times. He has been struggling with health issues for the last three or 4 years, culminating in the need to take FMLA (leave of absence from work) for the last 4 months. Extensive testing points to Lyme disease. I never knew much about Lyme until now, but it is a despicable disease that attacks one's entire body leaving the person with chronic fatigue, chronic pain, gastric distress, sleep disturbance and emotional turmoil. Full blown, as Weston has experienced it, it is completely debilitating. This is particularly true in Weston's line of work as an anesthetist (CRNA). Weston's work, giving anesthesia, requires complete attention and vigilance with a total commitment to the patient he has under his care. Hence, Weston had to withdraw from the workforce to try to get a handle on his disease. So far, multiple treatments have yielded no lasting results.

Weston has not drawn a paycheck for 4 months, is living off dwindling savings and is currently fighting what may be ultimately a futile battle with 2 insurance companies over his disability policies... because Lyme is so misunderstood by the medical community, it is something the insurance companies like to deny claims over. Imagine that: insurance companies wanting your premiums, but not wanting to pay when you need them.

So, here's the deal: Weston and his wife Tabitha are expecting their second child, a son, in about a month. His health insurance just reset it's deductible. Weston also hopes to travel to Arizona or Florida for a consultation ASAP with a clinic that specializes in treating Lyme; perhaps followed by cutting-edge treatment for Lyme that will be not be paid for by health insurance. He needs to travel out of state and reside at a treatment facility for up to 2 months because no local physician he has seen has been able to offer him any hope.

A few family members have been helping Weston and Tabitha along as best we could, but it's time to pull out the stops and look to a bit larger circle for help. We are trying to scrape up enough money for the birth of the baby, treatment for the Lyme and provide for living expenses that have become a burden. Our goal is $30,000 (of which $5,000 has already been raised prior to starting the GoFundMe campaign).

While your prayers are definitely coveted and appreciated, anything you can do from a practical/financial standpoint to help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
