Help Ward on his road to recovery
Donation protected
Ward Stene is always the first to help out and now he needs our help. Ward is a former Calgary Police Officer who remains active in many organizations in Calgary. Volunteering with the Calgary Police Rodeo, the Kidney March, Hockey Calgary and Hockey Alberta.
Ward developed a severe infection in both of his feet at the beginning of February. Due to his diabetes, the circulation in his feet was not enough to fight the infection and as a result he had to have both of his legs amputated below the knee. He is recovering in hospital but has a long road ahead....regaining strength, adjusting to a wheelchair and eventually learning to walk on prosthetic legs.
Ward was not working when he got sick so now has very limited resources. He will need to find affordable accessible housing and eventually get back into the workforce.
We want Ward to keep his positive attitude about his recovery and the next stage in his journey, so are asking for your help with expenses and getting him set up for his new life. We know he will back helping out as soon as he is able!
