Walter is Gone – Please Help with His Medical Bills
I never thought I’d have to write this. I wanted so badly to share an update that Walter was recovering and on his way back to being his happy, mellow self. But last night, after a series of violent seizures and a stroke, we had to make the hardest decision of our lives.
Walter died peacefully in my arms.
I am absolutely heartbroken. There are no words for how much I miss him or how lost I feel without him. He was more than just a pet—he was my hiking buddy, my constant companion, my best boy. He was the kind of dog who loved everyone, who would close his eyes and melt into your hands when you petted him, who made life feel lighter just by being there. He deserved more time.
The Fight to Save Walter & Why We Still Need Help
Over the past month, we fought as hard as we could to save Walter. What started as a simple upset stomach turned into a mysterious, life-threatening illness—gastrointestinal bleeding and pancreatitis with no clear cause. We did everything possible, from working with his regular vet to rushing him six hours away to Madison Veterinary Specialists for intensive care and testing.
Because of the incredible kindness and generosity of so many people, we were able to give Walter every chance at survival. I will never stop being grateful for that.
But even though Walter is gone, the financial burden of his emergency care remains. Right now, we are still facing over $10000 in vet bills and other costs. It’s overwhelming. And while asking for help has never been easy for me, I simply can’t do this alone.
How You Can Help
If you are able to donate, every little bit helps toward covering the debt we now carry from Walter’s care. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to me.
More than anything, I just want Walter to be remembered. He was the best dog—he deserved all the love in the world, and I hope he knew just how much he was loved.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, for caring.
