Help My Brother Wally's Housing Situation

There's no simple way to tell this story - and ask for help.

My brother Wally's, best friend - and our mother, Mary Primiano - passed away about a month ago.

As sad as it has been for all of us to watch her fade away for the past six months and then pass in her sleep, it has been life-altering for Wally. Wally has spent his entire life living with our mother. Since his birth, every single day. And now she is gone - from all of us, but more so from him. He feels her loss everyday in a way far different than the rest of us.

One of the unfortunate parts of his story, is that in a few short weeks, he will no longer be able to afford the apartment that he has been sharing with our mother for years. Now that she has passed, Wally is now responsible for his rent, and really for all of the expenses that most of us take for granted, ones that my mother always took care of on Wally's behalf. Sadly, Wally will have to move unless help arrives. Soon.

And this is where it gets hard for us to ask.

We are simply asking for a few dollars from anyone who can help in order to keep Wally in his current apartment until we have completed all of the steps necessary to get the help someone like Wally clearly needs. He is over 65 years-old and has been considered disabled his entire life. We know and hope that within two or three months we will catch a break and find him either subsidized housing through HUD or some other agency. Unfortunately, while we thought all of these arrangements would be in place before our mother passed, the truth is that the process is taking a lot longer than we imagined. Your small donation will help us keep Wally home where he belongs for a month or two or three longer. That's all we are asking for at this point - and the best we can expect for Wally.
