Waffle is a joyful, loving three-year-old dog who means the world to my sister Sunni and our family. Just days ago, Waffle faced a terrifying medical emergency after swallowing feminine hygiene products, which caused a dangerous blockage. Sunni rushed him to an emergency pet clinic in Knoxville, where he underwent surgery. Despite the veterinarian’s assurances, the procedure left Waffle in worse condition, with multiple unnecessary incisions and severe complications. Sunni, who is always there for others and lights up every room, was devastated as she watched her beloved companion suffer. She took out a loan and gathered help from family to cover the initial costs, but Waffle’s health continued to decline. His regular vet discovered the extent of the damage: infection, fluid buildup, and necrosis in his intestines. Waffle needed another urgent surgery, antibiotics, IV treatments, and round-the-clock care to have a chance at survival.
