Help VOIX DES ARTS cover the 2022 - 2023 Season

My name is Joseph Newsome (Joey to many of you), and I launched the website https://www.voix-des-arts.com fourteen years ago with the goal of supplementing the ever-decreasing—and ever-declining—coverage of the Performing Arts by mainstream media outlets.

As a Classically-trained musician who studied piano, violin, and voice extensively, I task myself with reviewing performances and recordings with depth and detail. I regard myself as an advocate for composers, analyzing how performers recreate their music. Above all, I strive to write with complete respect for artists and the sacrifices that they make in order to share their talents.

From the inception, there has been no advertising on Voix des Arts. Reviews are accessible to all who visit the site, without pay walls or subscription fees. Artists and institutions are charged nothing for reviews and interviews. Writing Voix des Arts generates no income or revenue, and I am committed to keeping the site 100% free to readers.

The costs of maintaining domain registration and hosting and traveling to review performances are high and continually increasing, however.

For example, the first performance of the 2022 - 2023 Season that I was privileged to review on Voix des Arts required a roundtrip drive of 400 miles. I made the trip in one day—eight hours of driving—in order to avoid an overnight stay, but the costs of fuel, parking, and a very modest meal amounted to more than $50.

I feel passionately that the Arts enrich our society immeasurably. I also feel that artists deserve assessments of their work that honor the dedication that they expend in preparing and performing.

I humbly seek your help with offsetting the costs of keeping Voix des Arts vibrant. Whatever the amount, your contribution goes directly to funding this work that I take very seriously. Without you, this voice for the Arts cannot sing on.
