Help Victims of Albania Earthquake

The Backstory
On Monday, November 26th, one of the poorest countries in Europe, Albania, was hit with a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.4. Many people were injured and killed, and buildings were ruined. My name is Julia Blak and my husband, Eled Doda, and I currently live in Niagara Falls, Ontario. My husband is Albanian and his uncle's family home near Durres (in Albania) has been ruined by the earthquake and is now unsafe and unlivable. The family of 5, including their sick grandmother, spent the rest of the night in their car. Currently, they are taking their home apart, piece by piece, starting with the roof so that it doesn't collapse any further. They will have to rebuild their home from scratch as quickly as possible, especially with the coming cold weather. (More photos below).

The Costs
Land in Albania is traditionally passed down within a family. Thus, Eled's family will have to rebuild their home in the same place as their current home. Building a new basic (2-bedroom) home in Albania costs between 30-40 thousand dollars, which is extremely expensive in their country.
