Matthew Demeny victim Gun Violence

Matthew was shot with a 45 right in the head from a very short distance.  There was no provocation on Matthews part. In fact Matthew had been friends with this person who is now in custody. 

Matthew was helped by his girlfriend and a nurse who happened to be there until the life flight could get to him.. He was flown to Theda Clark Hsp in Neenah where the doctors wanted to do emergency surgery to save Matthews life. Because they couldn't stabilize Matthew, he died 3 times , surgery had to wait. He had bleeding on his brain and his skull was crushed with pieces pushing into his brain. During this time Matthew was in an induced coma with a breathing tube to keep him with us. The next day Matthew was stable enough for surgery where the surgeons went in and did what they needed to do which included attaching a metal plate to his skull.  

Matthew is a walking miracle, not only did he survive the shooting and the surgery Matthew was able to leave the hospital in 5 days.  Matthews fight with recovering from this senseless act of violence is far from over. On going medical treatment and working slowly daily to improve his skills will need to continue for 3 to 6 months. 

Mathew doesn't have medical insurance. He is self employed and owns his own  small construction company with a partner. Mathew will need help paying the enormous medical bills and will need money to live on while he is unable to work. 

Mathew has been a hard worker his adult life and is working very hard to get his life back. The doctors and nurses at Theda said he is a walking miracle.  We think so too and grateful he is still with us.
