Help Vasquez and his family get a new home

Luis Vasquez, a 21-year old Dominican pitcher in the Mets farm system, spent all of 2018 in NYC fighting and beating an aggressive form bone cancer in his left leg. While he and his family are grateful for his remission and the care he received in New York, he had to have his knee and tibia replaced, which makes his dreamed career of playing baseball unlikely.

Now, Luis is back in the Dominican Republic where he is focusing on finishing High School and learning English while he continues his rehabilitation.

Luis and his family live in Yamasa, Monte Plata, a poor, rural area north of Santo Domingo. He lives with his mother, two sisters, two brothers, and two nephews in a two bedroom house without indoor plumbing, air conditioning or regular electricity. Luis and his mom are the primary breadwinners and while they were in New York last year, his family house began to fall into disrepair.

Luis had hoped to buy his family a new house with some of his baseball earnings, but will not make enough to drastically change their quality of life. Raising $35,000 would cover the cost of a new apartment for the family, furniture and help cover utilities. This would significantly upgrade their quality of life and help their family for many years to come.

This is where we need your help. It would take very little from each of us to raise enough money for Luis to buy his family a new home.  We will use the bulk of the funds to purchase the home directly. The rest of what is raised will go towards furnishing it and paying the monthly utilities.

Thanks for your help!
