<div>Hi, everyone! Many of you may know me but for those of you who don’t and are here to support us, my name is Karina. I am 28 and a mom to Valentin who is going to be 2 in September. Not many people know, but my Valentin has periventricular leukomalacia PVL. He was on track to be born “normal” but suffered a brain injury at birth. PVL causes damage to the white matter of the brain which affects motor skills and may present other delays and challenges such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, GI issues, cortical vision impairment, etc.

<div>Valentin is severely developmentally delayed. He is unable to walk, sit, roll or use his arms legs like a normal 2 y/o would. He also suffers from epilepsy and has a visual impairment (cvi) which can’t be treated because it has to do with the brain damage and not so much his physical eyes.

<div>I have debated on reaching out for help for over a year now but realized it really does take a village to get through these hard times. I’ve recently learned about Stem cell therapy treatments outside of the US that could be very beneficial to Valentin’s development in all senses. Insurance does not cover this at all so I am reaching out to you all for help. We have been managing with what we can but this specific treatment is pretty hefty. With this treatment we pray to see increase in movement in his legs and arms, more focused in his vision, interacting more and just being able to do more independently. This would only cover one session for him but we are hoping and praying to see positive change in him and will be willing to apply for follow up treatments and therapy. I truly appreciate everyone that has taken the time to learn about Valentin and donate and share with others.
