Help Us with Icy's Knee Surgery

Donation protected
Hi everybody,

Over the years of living in Brooklyn, I've come across many dogs, specifically pit mixes, in critical situations. As a result, I've become a circumstantial rogue dog rescuer- helping to find homes and fosters, transporting dogs for surgery and getting them core vaccinations needed to live a healthy life.

That's how Icy first came into our lives, as a young pup, living in a home with over a dozen other dogs. She needed her shots, and crucial obedience training to rehabilitate her into a big city like New York. She had been beaten in an attempt to train her with fear-based methods, which, much to her previous owner's frustration, didn't work.  Like most people who end up with a rescued pit bull, I had no idea she would be the one saving me.

After the death of my brother nearly three years ago, Icy has stopped at nothing to be there for me, she never leaves my side. She comforts anyone she sees in distress, humans and animals alike, and later this would lead her to a rightfully earned doctor-recommendation as an emotional support animal. Till this day, she continues to comfort and love on everyone and everything, forgetting her days of abuse. I could not imagine my life without her.

Recently, Icy began to limp- leaving her right hind leg lame and unusable. Our vet clinic informed us this was an ACL/CCL tear, and that she would need cruciate knee surgery as soon as possible. With a price tag of 4000 dollars, we are left unable to get her the help she needs. As the days go on, and her limping worsens, she risks tearing her other ACL as well. Under vet recommendation, Icy is prohibited from walks and play time, and has been advised to be crated indefinitely to avoid further injury. She is miserable, being unable to run and play with dogs and people- as she's learned to love these aspects of our daily lives.

I'm asking and praying that our good karma will come back to us now as we ask the public to help with the costs for surgery. While the overall amount will greatly exceed what we are asking, we want to contribute as much as we can as a family to make this happen. The money we need from this campaign will go directly to radiographs, sedation, necessary medications, a knee brace, transportation and the surgery itself. We really want to see our baby get back on her paws and out into the world, so any amount you can can contribute to help us would be incredible. Thanks for taking the time to read our story!
