Help treat orphaned kids with lice

Donation protected
As many of you know, we own a clinic that treats people with head lice (and if you didn't, well congratulations, you are friends with an expert on head lice!).  We were recently invited to a children’s home near Medellin, Columbia that houses about 175 girls and boys, infants to teens, with a head lice infestation that they battle continuously.   These children are orphaned and/or abandoned with backgrounds ranging from starvation, homelessness, drugs, violence, prostitution, and nearly all of them have head lice (that's where we come in).  Jim and I have committed to visit the orphanage for one week this summer to do two things: 1) treat all of the children in the orphanage and help rid them of their current head lice infestation, and 2) train the older children on how to properly treat the others in the orphanage so that they can keep the problem under control after we leave.  The second task has the potential added benefit of providing the older children with a trade they can use to earn a living long after we are gone.

Jim and I continue to pray for the additional income that will be required to cover the cost of this trip, which will end up being much greater than we originally anticipated.  Therefore, with less than a week before we are to leave, we have (reluctantly) decided to reach out to our friends for help to offset these costs.  We are committed to going and we believe we are meant to go and, God willing, we will be on a plane bound for Columbia in less than a week.  If you feel led and able to give any amount toward the cost of going on this trip to help these children (who have been through so much already that the last thing they need to contend with is an acute head lice infestation) we will be very grateful (and Sonia will make you tacos when we return!).  Seriously, we sincerely appreciate you reading this far, and for your donation of any amount.
