<div><strong>Who is Muscat Dog Adoption?</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We (MDA) are a dog rescue organisation established in 2012 and run by a group of dog-loving volunteers in Muscat, Oman. We aim to rescue abandoned and injured dogs in Muscat and then rehome them in Oman or abroad. Once in our care, the dogs receive necessary veterinary treatment such as vaccinations against diseases, neutering/spaying, worm and flea treatment and any other treatment that may be required.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From 2012-2022, we had a makeshift pound which was a safe refuge to keep the newly rescued dogs off the streets while we looked for their forever homes but this closed down in July 2022.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We then opened a new shelter in December 2022 which was a home to 43 rescued wadi dogs. We spent over 2500 OMR making it a safe and dog proof location to house our dogs. However, we were told by the authorities that we needed to remove the dogs because the new shelter location is a farm and dogs are not supposed to be kept there, only livestock.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After setting up a second farm, we were then given notice by the landlord in January 2025. We therefore moved our dogs to boarding at Spk9. Most of our dogs currently live here which costs 900 OMR per month. We also have 13 dogs in boarding with Maria at Sit and Stay which costs 80 OMR per dog per month. We only have 3 dogs in foster homes at the moment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Adoptions are pretty much non-existent in Oman therefore we send most of our dogs abroad to find their forever homes. This is expensive though, especially since August 1st 2024 when the CDC changed the rules again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>… This is where we desperately need your help! </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Here is a breakdown of the costs to send <strong>one dog to the USA</strong>:

</div>
<div><strong>Paperwork</strong>: $130/ 50 OMR/ £100
</div>
<div><strong>Quarantine:</strong> $1200/ 500 OMR/ £1000
</div>
<div><strong>crate: </strong>65 OMR/ £130
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>The difficulty of animal rescue in Oman:</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although Oman established an animal welfare organization in 2025, the charity is still in the early stages with no physical location yet. We hope that the future shelter will be able to house many animals which will ease the financial burden of boarding for us. It still therefore remains very challenging rescuing animals with limited resources.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The difficulty of rehoming our dogs in Oman:</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Wadi dogs are not popular in Oman and are viewed by many as feral or just street dogs when in fact, wadi dogs make wonderful pets. They're brilliant, loyal and loving and all deserve a home and family of their own. Local adoption rates are low each year, therefore we hugely rely on overseas adopters to provide the forever-loving homes that our dogs deserve.
</div>

</div>
<div>Any donation is greatly appreciated and much needed!
</div>

</div>
<div>Thank you!
