ENGLISH Hello, everyone. I am Carlo Marega, owner of the Atelier Marega.
We are a family-run shop, hand-making traditional and contemporary masks and period costumes from Venetian history, especially treasured for our Carnevale Festivals and the Grand Ball.
We are Venetian and our Atelier and store are located on the island of Venice, a short walk from the famous Piazza San Marco. During the night of November 12th, we were hit very hard by the natural disaster known as acqua alta (high water).
This time, our beloved city saw the waters rise faster and higher than we have experienced before. The recorded level of the water reached 187 cm (about 74 inches!) above sea level.
We thought we had put everything up in safety, but with the arrival of the very strong Sirocco wind, it raised the tide by 40 cm (over 15 inches) within 30 minutes!
Unfortunately, this has caused us a lot of damage in a very short time.
And sadly, the rains continue. During the high water, in fact, many papier-mache masks, exquisite fabrics on rolls, as well as our walls, electrical outlets, sewing machines, and furniture have been damaged.
We also lost in the humidity and high waters many materials that are used to package our masks and costumes inspired by so many eras ...
Right now we need immediate financial aid to be able to cope with the damage suffered.
My family and I take pride in our work, but at this moment, we really could use your help and support, as we work to clean up our atelier and recover from these losses. We still have so much to do to prepare for Carnevale in February.
Below are the jobs we need to do quickly:
*Sanitation of all our fabrics: around € 6,000
*Sanitation and restoration of our costumes that have been ruined: around 5,000 euros
*Sanitizing of all materials such as trimmings, laces and many other applications: around 4350 euros
*Repair 2 sewing machines
*Buy 1 sewing machine that has been submerged: the value of 2000 euro
*Restoring the professional iron and other equipment used in costume-making.
*Furniture restoration, at this point, we are not sure of the costs. This is not only store display furniture, but also our working tables and other things we use in the making of costumes and displaying our hand-made masks.
*Purchase of more airtight plastic containers to secure all the material that will be sanitized, as well as protecting our undamaged materials: around 1000 euro
*Purchase of new basic fabrics because many damaged fabrics cannot be repaired or cleaned: an estimated 5000 euros .
At this moment we cannot return to the Atelier due to lack of materials, machines and spaces, although we are still working hard to clean and put back into order our store and the attached workshop area. ola aritigiana a conduzione familiare. Durante la notte del 12 Novembre siamo stati colpiti molto duramente della calamità naturale conosciuta come acqua alta che ha raggiunto 187 cm slm.
Pensavamo di aver messo tutto in sicurezza ma con l’arrivo del vento di scirocco molto forte ha fatto salire la marea di 40 cm nell’arco di 30 minuti, purtroppo questo ci ha creato molti danni e tutti i sacrifici di una vita son andati distrutti.
Durante l’acqua alta infatti son state danneggiate molte maschere cartapesta, muri, prese elettriche, mobili ma soprattutto tanti materiali che servono per confezionare le nostre maschere e i nostri costumi ispirati a tante epoche…. In questo momento abbiamo bisogno di una liquidità immediata per riuscire a fronteggiare i danni subiti.
Per chi di voi volesse aiutare un’azienda veneziana artigianale che si è trovata in ginocchio causa acqua alta è libero di farlo e ci aiuterebbe a mantere aperta la nostra azienda e a prepararci al Carnevale.
Qui di seguito sono i lavori che dobbiamo eseguire in tempi rapidi:
*sanificazione di tutti i nostri tessuti attorno a euro 6.000
*sanificazione e restauro dei nostri costumi che son andati rovinati attorno euro 5.000
*sanificazione di tutti i materiali come passamanerie, pizzi e tante altre applicazione attorno euro 4350
*riparare 2 macchine da cucire cifra in aggiornamento
*comprare 1 macchina da cucire che è stata sommersa valore di euro 2000 *
*messa in sicurezza del ferro da stiro professionale e riparazione cifra in aggiornamento restauro
*mobili andati rovinati cifra da quantificare cifra in aggiornamento
*acquisto di contenitori plastica ermetici per mettere in sicurezza tutto il materiale che verrà sanificato e quello non rovinato attorno euro 1000
*acquisto di nuovi tessuti base perché molti dei tessuti rovinati non potranno essere riparati o puliti. si stima una cifra di euro 5000.
In questo momento non possiamo ritornare operativi in Atelier per mancanza di materiali, macchine e spazi, Anche un piccolo contributo fatto con il cuore è gradito un grazie a tutti voi. Carlo & Atelier Marega
