Summer youth employment program
Good Evening,
It is with great pleasure to announce that we have been in partnership with DC Department of Employment Services and the Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program for two summers! We’ve all learned a lot and had fun with the new virtual youth employment option as we looked forward to in-person programming.
It was a BLAST for us! But this year, we’ve been asked to expand our programming to 10 months of the year and we are super excited to help the youth not only with strong skills and employment, but assistance with college research and applications, employment assistance, scholarships, and referrals for child-care and transportation assistance. We are expanding certain services for the LGBTQTIA Community. All are welcome to register but we most definitely want to provide referral services and community resources to support them.
We can reach out to other organizations for a lot of these services or fulfill them with an app or website, but we need YOUR help to assist with the tools we need to successfully operate in the proper capacity.
We will hire 15-20 youth on the campus of UDC on Friday August 12th, 2022 from 10am to 2pm for any donors who would like to speak in person. We will wear a mask for everyone’s safety.
The positions we will be hiring for are as follows:
Blogger
Research Journalist
Graphic Designer
Music Theory & Production (instruction-based position where employee learns how to produce multiple genres of music) This position is normally for those in preparation for a marketing position in a corporate setting.
We need some subscription-based memberships such as Canva to fulfill our social media portion and graphic design. Grammarly will be used to edit any articles before posting to our website or social media channels. FL Studio app is needed for our Music Production position. We would like to offer hardware such as free wireless devices so those donations would be greatly appreciated as well. Marketing & advertising is also a need and we have found multiple affordable options to fit any budget we might end up with. We really can’t wait to make a difference in so many lives, being that this is a growing program. However many youth we can afford to provide software for, we can get them registered and paid.
Another thing, we have a space to operate but we will need more space for Covid-19 accommodations and CDC regulations. We are reaching out to every organization we can, but if you know someone who has a space to donate we would so wonderfully appreciate it. All donations are tax-deductible and all sponsors will be placed on our website (unless you say so) to show our thanks and appreciation. We hope this message reaches the right hearts in the DMV because we need YOU.
Update! We are also in partnership with Heavens Divine DestinyWe have been serving the community with various events and supportive services such as Christmas parties with free giveaways, clothing, shoes, food, toys and gift cards to help feed those in need. We are looking to expand these events to accommodate more families and individuals in need. All donations are greatly appreciated.
