Help us support Dave Perron

On Thursday October 5th, 2017, with his daughters by his side, Dave Perron was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer. Early on this year, Dave noticed a small mass growing on the side of his face. In short order, he went to see his doctor to which they administered tests, both coming back negative in cancer screenings. The mass kept growing and Dave's doctor was not satisfied with these results. The doctor then ordered a 3rd test to be done, this time with a much different result. Dave was given an appointment to sit down with Cancer Care and our hearts sank knowing our fears were potentially about to become reality. That day, Dave and his daughters anxiously attended the appointment. Once there, the team of doctors came in and we were given the news. Sadly, the mass is skin cancer and will need to be surgically removed. Dave was told the mass sits directly above the largest nerve in the face. This nerve is completely in control of all facial function on the left side. He was told during surgery there is a 50/50 chance they may need to cut out the nerve. If this were to happen, he will no longer have any control over his facial movements on the left side. During surgery they will also need to take a graft from his leg and attach it to his face. Dave will no longer be able to grow a beard on the left side of his face. After surgery is complete, Dave will undergo a 6 months treatment period in which he will be attending regular radiation treatments, and possibly chemotherapy. The doctors told him that during this time he will not feel like himself. He will be tired from treatment and will be unable to work. As we all know, Dave runs his own business. During this time frame he will not have any revenue coming in. The last thing we all want is Dave having any sort of financial worries. We want him to heal and recover and for that to be where he focuses his energy!

Dave has been an amazing friend and family member to SO many of us! He has been there through many of our times of need. I’m sure you all have a story about how he stepped up and has gone above and beyond to help in any way that he could. The saying in which says “he would give you the shirt off his back”, I can’t think of a person who this could be truer. We ask today for your support. This is our turn to return the favour and help him out!
Thank you very much.
