Who are JCF? and who is Julian?

Julian Campbell Foundation (JCF) is an early intervention organization, who support young people from 11 to 24 years old experiencing mental health challenges. The organization was founded by Jacqui Campbell, who wanted to leave a legacy to her brother Julian, who tragically ended his own life through suicide in 2007. Since then, Jacqui has worked tirelessly, using her background of teaching and love of science, to give young people the support that perhaps would have saved Julian's life.

JCF have highly trained mood mentors that support our young people. Mentors are trained to listen to what the mentee is dealing with, and using the mood map ( as shown below ). The mood map is a tool created by JCF, that teaches young people to recognize their mood, and to put things in place to change it from low to high mood states. JCF also gives parents peace of mind and supports them in their own separate group, also hosted by our mood mentors.

JCF Drama workshops:

We offer Drama workshops to young people in schools, allowing them to act out and experience different situations they may have to deal with in their lives. We have covered topics such as bullying, dangers of social media, grooming, pressure's of body image and relationships. Our workshops involve forum theatre performance's, group discussions, guest speakers and allowing the young people to voice their experience's or opinions. We have our highly trained mood mentors who also attend these workshops. This way, if any of the young people feel they need to talk or have any concerns about any of the topics covered, they have the chance to speak to one of the team, in a safe and confidential environment.

Julian Campbell Foundation hosted our first ever Hybrid Drama workshop in December 2020, working with Kingsmead school in Enfield London. We completed a successful workshop whilst mixing online interaction through zoom, with a classroom environment. As well as students joining the sessions from home. Over 300 students attended last year, and the day brought so many incredible interactions with the young people.

The space that was created allowed young people to feel comfortable enough to speak about thoughts and emotions in front of others and individually. In addition they were taught about a range of different topics, told real life stories and given an opportunity to speak out.

In the past, to raise money to fund our Drama workshops as well as the training of our mood mentors, we have teamed up with Entity All Stars, the incredible dance crew and winners from Britain's got talent 2015. The group performed an amazing flash mob live in Kings Cross train station in London, along side Denise Pearson from Five star! All to raise money for Julian Campbell Foundation.
