Help us hurdle the last obstacle to securing Woodlawn Memorial Park! Assure the cemetery remains open to the public. At Woodlawn, we have made great strides because of the handwork of hundreds of volunteers. Woodlawn has been open on a regular basis for more than a year, critical repairs were made and restoration has begun. Families and friends have returned to visit their loved ones. Their happiness and gratitude has made all the hard work worthwhile.

To secure Woodlawn’s future, we have to resolve the property tax situation. Lacking sufficient income to operate the cemetery, the current owner defaulted on eleven years of property taxes. For the last three months OSAAT worked with the Los Angeles County Assessor and Treasury and Tax Collector offices to remediate the issues elevating the tax bill. Once the defaulted tax bills are addressed Woodlawn will be gifted to our nonprofit.

Just last night we were informed cemetery exemption status was reinstated for Woodlawn and corrections to the property tax bills are being processed! Upon issuance of the tax bill we have 30 days to pay. Deadline is 11/01/2021.

Once the property taxes are paid, OSAAT will record the transfer of property from the current owner to our nonprofit. Woodlawn will remain open, safe from threats of auction or bulldozing.

You can help us with a contribution. Your support is crucial to pay the tax and complete the transfer of property. If you’re able, we’d love it if you could make a donation of $100 to help us achieve our mission. If you can’t, any amount would contribute to securing Woodlawn’s future.

Thank you in advance for your contribution. Your donation will go toward property tax payments and property transfer fees. Any excess will go into the fund for future tax payments.
