My name is Alexander, and I am a parent doing everything I can to provide a safe and stable home for my two young daughters, both of whom have special needs and are on the autism spectrum. We live in Shaker Heights, Ohio, because the schools here offer the specialized support and resources my children desperately need to thrive. Every decision I have made, including investing my entire inheritance and life savings, has been to ensure my daughters have the best possible chance at a bright future.

Unfortunately, I have fallen behind on our property taxes. Shaker Heights has some of the highest taxes in Ohio, and despite owning our home outright, the county is now threatening to sell my tax debt. If this happens, a buyer could purchase the debt and evict us from our home. The thought of losing our home—and the schools that are so vital to my daughters' development—is devastating. I run a small massage therapy business, Nordic Health Massage, and while we have over 60 five-star reviews, the business is struggling. I am also back in school to become an occupational therapy assistant, but it will be three years before I can complete the program and find more stable work. Their mother and I are divorced and I have residential custody to provide their schooling.
