Thanks for honoring senior residence caregivers

Unsung Heroes of COVID-19: Senior Residence Caregivers.
Campaign Closed July 15.

The Phoenix Holocaust Association sponsored an initiative to provide meaningful gratitude to caregivers working in assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing facilities. Professional caregivers, including Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA’s), Home Health Aides (HHA’s), and Personal Care Aides (PCA’s), assist our elderly loved ones with bathing and bathroom functions, grooming, dressing, eating, mobility, and taking medications.

Caregivers provide intimate help to the people at greatest risk for contracting and dying of COVID-19. Their work is crucial and demanding. And they do it with immense patience, respect and good cheer. But because the national average hourly wage for their profession is $12, caregivers often must work multiple jobs at different facilities just to make ends meet. This increases their and their families’ exposure to the coronavirus.

Doctors and nurses are the most visible faces of the frontline battling COVID-19 and there has been an outpouring of much deserved love and appreciation. It’s past time to thank the less celebrated workers on the frontlines who, at great personal risk, quietly and diligently care for those who are most vulnerable. These dedicated caregivers are nothing short of heroes.

We have been able to provide $60 cards to Albertsons-Safeway for 282 caregiver working at The Palazzo, Kivel Campus of Care, Belmont Village, and Friendship Village Tempe.  All are  senior residential facilities in the Greater Phoenix area. Albertsons-Safeway has committed to a generous donation to jump start this campaign!

We wanted this initiative to provide meaningful help and shine a light on essential workers who are too often forgotten.

Thank you for giving generously to help the Phoenix Holocaust Association fulfill its mission of contributing to tikkun olam , repair of the world.

Together we made a difference for those who are so deserving.

Thank you!
