Help us rebuild our health in a safe home.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Romina. I’ve lived under terrible circumstances for over three years now.

Not by choice!
Having immigrated to the UK, I was told to have to live in my borough for five years to be eligible for council.
a month before my due date, after being kicked out of the shelter I lived in (I worked so they said I should be able to find housing).
I found the house I live in just in time to have my baby, after two years a mould situation occurred and I made a complaint, it was painted over and from then I would have it come back, painted over and come back worse.

My son who is now two has developed a breathing problem using an inhaler, my daughter being highly sensitive gets the assistance and care in the form of therapy from her Primary school and I myself suffer from Bipolar, Anxiety and PTSD.
We are all receiving the help we need for this, however coming back to this condition and not taken seriously takes a toll on me.
Feeling like I’m failing my children and trying to overcome the battle of mental illness is hard.

These three years I have continuously emailed the local MP, done what they ask me to do.
Have environmental health involved, councillor wards, support workers, contacted citizens advice.
Yes, also search for a new house. My finances did not make it easy and moving out of the borough with my condition is not advised, especially having all our support network here, incase of anything.

Letting agent have constantly been gaslighting my situation. Telling me I’m the only one complaining and to move if it’s so horrible, one yelled at me to “shut up” when explaining the impact the housing had. And recently I’ve been called ‘difficult’ for calling them out and fighting for my health and our life. With all the reports stating it’s a building problem they still tell me I don’t open my windows enough. Even with the windows closed, we had to wear jackets indoors during the winter.
Lucky for me I have it all documented

My last resort was putting it on social
media and the support and exposure it’s gotten my family and I is overwhelming. It got picked up the next morning.

It got covered by ITV News London, click below for the news coverage!

If you’ve seen the link, the Landlords are blaming me for a default in their building and lack of action, knowing the harm it’s caused.

I was asked if we had a GofundMe to help us relocate and put our things in storage, also replace our damaged goods,
until the right measure is taken, and to get us through until they do what must be done.
That is rehouse my family and I.
I didn’t, I do now.

Thank you for the people who suggested this and I’m grateful, we can’t stay in this building any longer.
My children deserve better, I deserve better.

Thank you
