<div>My name is Matthew, I am a community based social worker and I help young people impacted by the justice system make better choices. Unfortunately, a dear friend of mine and long time, local community leader, overextended their resources to support other community members who took advantage of their kindness, and is currently struggling to make ends meet and facing eviction. This person has a full-time job, and normally has no issues making ends meet, but was denied a personal loan to catch up and is now facing eviction.

<div>As many of you know, financial hardship is impacting marginalized people at higher rates right now than most. This person is very private and doesn't want their identity revealed. Even them confiding in me about their current financial challenges was out of character and shows the desperation of this situation. I do think it is important to note that this person does not have a partner or roommates and grew up in foster care, making a very short list of people to turn to for support.
