In 2012 he had a Lumbar Discectomy surgery for a herniated disc. The surgeon told him then that he would eventually have to have a fusion.
Last month he woke up and realized he could barely walk and the pain was intolerable. He immediately set up appointments to have it looked at. He was told that he needed surgery immediately. We were NOT expecting this at all. The doctors were shocked that he was even able to get around. He took the soonest appointment for surgery, December 31. Not the best of timing but it MUST be done.
We've been told he will be completely out of work for 3 to 6 months. We've heard of people being out even longer. He will have short term disability. but that only covers a portion of his paycheck. We already know that the deductible for the surgery will $2200 for this year (being that the surgery will on the 31st of January) and then another $3000 for the start of the New Year as he will still be in the hospital. That's $5,000 in deductibles alone. Wake Med (the hospital he will be staying at does not have any in-network anesthesiologist so that will be paid out of pocket and I can't imagine the cost of it ( at least a couple of thousand dollars.) All of this and not to mention being able to pay our bills and get necessities. We are very worried about the financial burden this will cause.
My husband is such a good man and a hard worker. He has always done things for other people. You couldn't find a better man anywhere. I mean this from the heart. It breaks my heart to see him going through this.
As embarrassing as this is to do...To even ask for money to help us I know it needs to be done. If you have any questions about it you can PM me on Facebook.
To all my family and friends and friends of anyone who reads this and decides to share it as well...Please understand...We are not the sort of people to ask for money but I have to do something.
Please, if nothing else...Send us your prayers. Prayers that we will get through this. Prayers that my husband will have a successful surgery. Prayers that his pain will subside and he can go back to living a normal life once he heals up completely..... I am terribly worried and I know that this could only bring peace of mind for us. Thank you so much. Bless you.
