Help Us Pay for Emmett's Vet Bills

Donation protected
Our Emmett came to Cat Angels Pet Adoptions in late August 2017, with his sister, Kit Kat, and almost immediately needed multiple surgeries to prevent a life-threatening situation.

Cat Angels is a no-kill cat shelter in Cary, NC. We do whatever it takes, regardless of cost, to keep our cats happy and healthy, while they await their forever homes. As a small non-profit, this can be a strain on an already tight budget. Emmett's medical bills hit when our funds were significantly tapped due to several other cats needing expensive veterinary treatments. We could really use your help to pay Emmett's bills and continue to provide excellent care for all our precious cats.

Emmett wasn't with us very long before we discovered him going in and out of the litter box and straining to get much urine out. An alert volunteer noted that he was now starting to pee bright red blood. He was rushed to NC State University Veterinary Hospital emergency room, as it appears he was blocked and unable to urinate - which can be fatal if left untreated.

He was treated with narcotic pain meds to make him relax so that they could catheterize him, in preparation for removing the obstruction. Well - it made him feel so good, he completely relaxed and urinated A LOT!!!! Apparently, he had a lot of sediment in his bladder and that was thought to cause the blockage. He stayed overnight, was given more meds to take home. That was $600.

Four days later, he blocked again - and was rushed again to the NC State University Veterinary Hospital emergency room. This time he stayed a few days in Intensive Care, while they catheterized him and unblocked him. That was $2000. They felt he needed surgery to remove his penis, as it was scarred and very likely to block yet again. The estimate was $2500.

Our veterinarian was able to do that surgery for $1200, thank goodness!

Total outlay to save our boy Emmett was $3800. He is now a happy, healthy goofy boy whom we all adore.

We will work tirelessly to find Emmett and his sweet sister their forever homes, and will always to do whatever it takes to help each of our cats, live their best lives. Anything you can do to help us with those goals is enormously appreciated.
