Help us make rural Patagonia accessible!

Hola!  We are Fernanda and Laura and we live in the tiny tucked-away village called Puerto Guadal, in the Aysén region of Chilean Patagonia. We realize that we live in one of the most beautiful places in the world; we are surrounded by vast wild landscapes, tremendous rumbling glaciers, stormy rivers, spectacular waterfalls, many magical undiscovered forests, and a unique variation of Patagonian wildlife. Unfortunately, not everyone gets to enjoy these wonders of nature as we can.

With this crowdfunding project we wish to collect enough funds to be able to buy the Joëlette wheelchair. A special chair made in France which is uniquely designed to take people with reduced mobility on adventurous and rugged trails. Until today, here in Southern Chilean Patagonia, there are almost no roads or trails accessible for wheelchairs. We want to change that. Our dream is to open up as many scenic routes around Chelenko Lake (also called Lago General Carrera), and make this wild landscape a place for everybody to experience, to live and discover.

We will work together with specialized travel agencies, local tour operators, National Parks and local inhabitants of nearby villages who are keen on opening their homes to experience Patagonian traditions.

Besides opening routes for tourists, we want to enable the use of the Joëlette chair to the school in our neighboring village, Puerto Bertrand. This school has only 6 students, of which Eliana is part of.  Eliana is in a wheelchair and therefore she can barely join on school trips. Once we have the Joëlette wheelchair, we want to facilitate and guarantee the use of this chair to the school and make sure Eliana can join her classmates any time on any trip and experience her own homeland.
