Help us legally start a trans nonprofit

Hi, I’m Win! Some friends and I are working to create Project Mercury, an easily accessible website that acts as a transgender safe space with a database of everything trans. We plan to run as a nonprofit, with the intention of using received donations to pay for our website and, if enough is raised, also help pay for gender-affirming care. Before we can do this, though, we need a business PayPal that can be donated to, and we can’t get that without becoming legally recognized as a nonprofit. We would also need to be legally recognized before we could ask for grants, if we ever needed them. Quickly skimming over some information has led us to realizing that just to file to become a 501c3 nonprofit in Indiana, we would need at least $780. The remainder of the $1000 is there in case we need more, and if we don’t need it, it will be used to keep our site running.

Team Mercury is made up of all high school students and most of us don’t have jobs, so any and all help we can get is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
