Help us in the Chesham & Amersham by-election

Donation protected
It's time to breakthrough in Chesham & Amersham and across the rest of the UK.

We believe Chesham & Amersham, and the rest of the country, deserves a real alternative to the failed status quo. A society that uses its considerable wealth to provide dignity, security and justice for all, not just the 1%. That's why we're standing a candidate in the upcoming by-election.

Mainstream parties have have big donors and large financial backing, while we are a grassroots, member-led party that relies on small donations. Taking on the Westminster elite won't be easy, so we are asking for your help. For this GoFundMe campaign we are looking for £500, which will give us the deposit to stand a candidate and £2,000 to help us run a dynamic and positive campaign.

We know times are tight right now, and every penny will help. If you can’t give money, we would love to have you join our struggle and give time instead.

If we are going to take on the political establishment we'll need your support.

Why now?

The political establishment has completely ignored the needs of the young and other marginalised groups in our society for far too long.

Wages are low, work is insecure, housing is unaffordable, a climate catastrophe is looming and even our right to protest these issues is being stripped away by an authoritarian government.

They instead incite the ‘culture wars’ to distract us from its catastrophic handling of the pandemic and face face no meaningful opposition, either from the corrupt mainstream media or from Keir Starmer’s spineless Labour Party.

They’re all in it together, desperately propping up a collapsing system to protect their own power.

We see hope not in Westminster but in the ordinary people fighting for a better future — in workplaces, in communities and on the streets.

We believe now is the time to demand real, transformative change in this country.

Why Chesham & Amersham?

Chesham & Amersham is home to wealthy entrepreneurs and city financiers, known for its picturesque villages and opulent mansions, but this doesn't tell the whole story. Inequality is rife in these commuter towns on the outskirts of London.

A food bank on Chesham's high street, which has become ever busier during the pandemic, is symbolic of the fact that not all is well here.

The Chilterns, the district that includes Chesham & Amersham within its boundaries, has some of the worst social mobility in the country. Poorer families are trapped under a lasting shadow of deprivation and it tells a story of deep unfairness, determined by where people grew up.

Meanwhile, young people are forced to move away from their parents due to the extortionate cost of living. Rent is sky high, transport expensive and unreliable and tight food budgets don't go far in local shops.

Billions of pounds are being spent on HS2 running through the Chilterns, while local people are struggling to live. This is symptomatic of a country that has got its priorities all wrong.

Breakthrough’s candidate, Carla Gregory, 31, works at ‘Embrace The Middle East’, a charity based in Amersham and has lived in the constituency her whole life. She will champion everyone who lives here, not just the wealthy and offer a positive and transformative vision: an end to poverty and the housing crisis, dignity at work, a thriving NHS and affordable public transport.

Help us, support us, join us - it's time to for a real alternative to the failed status quo, it's time to breakthrough.
