<div>On January 9, 2025, our family was devastated by the tragic loss of three beloved members: Rhonda Powell (40), her son Braylon (10), and her nephew Hayden (1). Their lives were tragically taken at their home in St. Helena Parish in an unimaginable act of violence.

<div>The person accused of this tragedy is a family member who has a documented history of schizophrenia and was experiencing a mental health episode. Just the day before, he had been brought to a medical center for help and was prescribed new medication. Sadly, the support he needed came too late to prevent this heartbreaking outcome.

<div>Adding to the family’s pain, the victim’s mother-who is usually at home and may have been able to intervene-was in the hospital awaiting heart surgery at the time of the incident.

<div>Rhonda was a loving mother, sister, and friend who brought light to everyone around her. Braylon was a bright and joyful 10-year-old, full of potential and promise. Little Hayden, only one year old, was just beginning his journey in life.
