 My name is Jhoriell, and on Sunday, August 2, my brother and I experienced the unimaginable. Our beautiful mother, Nora Peña, was tragically taken from us in an accident. In an instant, our lives changed forever.

 There are no words to describe the pain of losing the person who was our entire world. Our mom was more than just a mother—she was our protector, our biggest supporter, and the strongest person we have ever known.

 At only 45 years old, our mom had already overcome more hardships than most people could imagine. As a single mother, she made the courageous decision to leave Honduras and seek asylum in the United States after escaping domestic abuse. She sacrificed everything to give my brother and me the opportunity to grow up in a safe, loving environment and have a future filled with hope.

 Through every challenge she faced, she never lost her faith. She loved God with all her heart and faithfully attended church. She was known for her kindness, compassion, generosity, and willingness to help others whenever she could. She touched the lives of so many people in our community, and her love, strength, and unwavering faith will continue to live on through everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

 Now, at just 18 and 19 years old, my brother and I are not only grieving the devastating loss of our mother—we are also facing the overwhelming financial burden that comes with her sudden passing. We are asking for your support to help us give our mom the beautiful and dignified farewell she deserves.

 Mi nombre es Jhoriell, y el domingo 2 de agosto, mi hermano y yo vivimos la peor tragedia de nuestras vidas. Nuestra hermosa madre, Nora Peña, nos fue arrebatada trágicamente en un accidente. En un instante, nuestras vidas cambiaron para siempre.

 No existen palabras para describir el dolor de perder a la persona que era nuestro mundo entero. Nuestra mamá fue mucho más que una madre; fue nuestra protectora, nuestro mayor apoyo y la persona más fuerte que hemos conocido.

 Con tan solo 45 años, nuestra mamá ya había superado más dificultades de las que la mayoría de las personas podrían imaginar. Como madre soltera, tomó la valiente decisión de salir de Honduras y buscar asilo en los Estados Unidos después de escapar de la violencia doméstica. Lo sacrificó todo para darle a mi hermano y a mí la oportunidad de crecer en un ambiente seguro, lleno de amor, y con la esperanza de un mejor futuro.

Tocó la vida de muchas personas en nuestra comunidad, y su amor, su fortaleza y su fe inquebrantable seguirán viviendo en cada persona que tuvo el privilegio de conocerla.

 Hoy, con apenas 18 y 19 años, mi hermano y yo no solo estamos enfrentando el inmenso dolor de perder a nuestra madre, sino también la enorme carga económica que su repentino fallecimiento ha dejado. Con humildad, les pedimos su apoyo para poder darle la despedida hermosa y digna que ella merece.
