<div>On Sunday, November 24th, 2024, we said goodbye to our beloved grandmother, <strong>Maria Elena</strong>. Losing her has left a hole in our hearts, especially as we head into Thanksgiving—a time we should be spending with her. It’s devastating to know she won’t be with us this holiday season, or for Christmas, after so many years of sharing those moments together, even when they were spent in hospital rooms.

<div>Maria Elena was a fighter. At 81 years old, she had been through so much—she lost her ability to walk years ago and relied on daily doctor visits, medications, and the loving care of her daughter, Ana Flores, who has been her full-time caregiver. Her care was truly a family effort, with her daughters and grandchildren all stepping in to help ensure she was loved and supported every step of the way.

Even in the hospital, she was always smiling, her laughter and positivity lifting the spirits of everyone around her. She was content with her life and taught us all the value of appreciating what we have. Her strength, warmth, and resilience inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

<div>The total cost to honor her with a proper funeral and burial is around $18,000, which has been an overwhelming financial challenge for our family. We’ve set our fundraising goal at $10,000 to help cover a portion of these expenses and ease some of the immediate burden. Unfortunately, we are being asked to pay everything up front with no payment plans, and we need to raise the funds by Monday to proceed with the arrangements. Any amount raised above this goal will go directly toward covering the remaining costs.
