The Peace For Okinawa Coalition sent representatives to the United Nations Human Rights Council in July 2019 to talk about the violations occurring in Okinawa. Our petition to save Okinawa's democracy and coral reef has over 211,000 signatures on it: http://bit.ly/standwithokinawa
We want to go back to the UN in February to follow up with our request for the international community to take notice of the situation in Okinawa and ensure that justice and equality is given to Ryukyuan / Okinawans.
The individual leaders and members of the Peace For Okinawa Coalition pay for our activities mostly out of our own pockets. We sometimes receive donations from individuals or organizations. We are hoping to raise around $2,000 to help us go back to the UN.
As a way of saying "thank you" to those who donate, we can include your name and/or organization's name on our website, pamphlets, and other materials that we will bring with us to the UN. So even people who might not be able to attend the UN in-person can still participate with us!
For donors who prefer to remain anonymous, that is of course also an option.
