UPDATE ADDED AT THE END OF THIS

Meet our two newest little fighters — both facing an incredibly unfair challenge: they’ve each been diagnosed with grade 5 heart murmurs.

These sweet souls have already stolen our hearts with their resilience and gentle nature. But their journey is only just beginning, and they need our help.

Diagnostic tests, specialist consultations, and ongoing care all come at a cost — and we want to give them every chance at a full, happy life.

We’ve managed to secure an urgent appointment with a cardiologist specialist this Thursday. We’re especially concerned about one of the pups, who is showing signs of extreme lethargy.

Our hearts are heavy as we prepare for the possibility that their condition may not be treatable. We’re holding on to hope — and we’re doing everything we can to give them a fighting chance.

Your donation, no matter how small, can help cover:

*Cardiac ultrasounds and specialist assessments ($790 per pup for echocardiograms)

*Potential medications to manage their condition

*Ongoing monitoring and veterinary care

We believe every life is worth fighting for. With your support, these pups could still have the future they deserve — one filled with love, comfort, and excitement.

Please donate if you can, and share their story to help us reach more hearts.

Thank you for supporting us — and for giving them hope.

An Update About the Puppies

Today brought a mix of heartbreak and hope after the puppie's' visit to the cardiologist.

We’re devastated to share that little Morris has been diagnosed with a rare and severe heart condition. He has a large hole in his heart and is missing vital blood vessels between his heart and lungs. There’s no surgery or medication that can help him.

Our hearts are shattered. Morris doesn’t have long—just a few short weeks—but we’ve been assured he isn’t in pain. He’ll stay with us, surrounded by love, until it’s his time to be set free.

But there is hope for his sibling.

The other puppy has a condition called patent ductus arteriosus (PDA)—a heart defect that can be corrected with surgery. If done in time, this procedure can give him a normal, happy life.

We now face an urgent challenge: raising the funds for this life-saving surgery, which needs to happen within the next two weeks. Without it, the damage to his heart could become irreversible. The estimated cost for this heart surgery is around $5,000.

There are so many animals in need, and so many important causes. It breaks our hearts that these babies are in this position because of breeding—while many dogs wait in shelters for homes.

But this little one didn’t ask for this start to life. He deserves a chance.

Please consider donating or sharing this post. Your support could quite literally save his life.

Roses Refuge is a registered charity, and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.

We’ll share a more detailed update once we receive the official vet notes—it was a lot to take in today.

Thank you for supporting us through the highs and lows.
