Help us get to the Edinburgh Theater Festival

Hayward High School Theater is one of a few schools given the rare opportunity to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Theater Festival. The largest theater festival in the world!

I've been teaching at Hayward High School for ten years, We create six plays a year at Hayward High and we've had great success when it comes to the work we create. From producing Commedia Del'Arte plays, to finishing the year with a devised play created and written by my entire Theater 2 class, we create a lot of interesting work. We have multiple award-winning actors from different Bay Area theater competitions and I want the chance for these kids to perform for a wide audience.

I also really want these kids to experience what it will be like to travel and perform in another country. Many of my students have never left their city let alone the country. This will truly be a once-in-a-lifetime event that they will not only remember but will grow from.

I was in a play at the Edinburgh Festival at university and it was the greatest experience of my life. Edinburgh is a beautiful medieval city with cobblestone streets, and castles with history pouring from every nook and cranny. For this festival there are hundreds of plays and performers, these students will be inspired and enriched by the trip.

These funds will be used to help the students who can't cover the entire price of the trip. I hope that we will raise enough money to cover at least half the price of the trip.

This trip is ten days long and the price includes:

airfare

food

hotel

transportation

sightseeing

and most importantly, a venue for the students to perform at the festival.

Your donations will help offset some of the costs for the students whose families are struggling to pay for this trip.

Every dollar donated goes to one of my students who desperately want to go on this trip and perform on this international stage.

As of today 4/10/24, a majority of the students have paid off their bill. We are three months away from the trip and we need 8 thousand dollars to help four more students and their families make their last few payments.
